DEAD SPACE
often erroneously compared to re4 or ss2 yet so much closer to doom 3 down to the homogeneity, infinite errand list, and peek a boo encounter design
all pitch black everything, getting swung around by the supporting cast to do verbs that move the game forward and nothing else. the aesthetic is striking and I love how its narrowness enhances the sense of space much like it did in FEAR, but I can't help feel like I'm treading water or spinning my wheels when everything's busywork
kinda pays off in the end, but the quiet/loud/quiet punctuation gets a bit tired after a while. necromorph does the monster closet idtech4 thing and you shoot it, move on to the next part of the haunted house. upgrade some gear, do some base environmental interactions, and go through the loop again complete with another impromptu sidetrack
but yeah it's doom 3. you've been duped: you've been praising doom 3, you like doom 3
i'm sorry the diagnosis is... you enjoy doom 3
you';re in love with doom 3
